Evicting Fear

One of the greatest, if not the greatest hindrance to a person stepping out of his or her comfort zone and entering the unknown is FEAR. But fear is just an acronym for False Expectations Appearing Real. Though it is human nature to fear what you do not know, you should make a conscious decision to fear nothing. The only thing you should fear is fear itself, so I encourage you, run from it!
I’m speaking from experience. When I began contemplating going into my business full-time, it took me several months to make the life-changing decision to quit my full time job. I was fearful of the uncertainty that comes with running a business.

Knowing that I would no longer have the security of a guaranteed monthly salary, sick days, paid vacation, health insurance and all the other benefits associated with employment, I was scared to death of doing it. However, I refused to be crippled by fear; I became fierce, ferocious and fearless. Though it wasn’t easy, I eventually replaced my fear with faith, and began to live not by what was evident before me, but by a hope of a successful future.

The startling truth is, less than 10% of the things we fear in life actually do happen. So don’t ignore your dreams because you are afraid to move on. Going against the grain and being an outside of the box thinker is one sure way to set yourself apart from everybody else as you walk in your life’s purpose and destiny.

Don’t fear failure; to win big you must be willing to fail big.  Failure can be just a bump on the road to victory.  Entrepreneurship in particular is a huge risk but the rewards are greater than anything you could ever possibly lose. It is the fear of losing that keeps many people from diving into the deep but champions know adversity is the catalyst of mental toughness.  You will never know the person you can be if pressure, tension and discipline are taken out of your life. T.S. Elliott puts it succinctly, “Only those who will risk going too far, can possibly find out how far they can go.”

I leave you today with a potent, powerful and profound excerpt from Marianne Williamson:

‘Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others’.
