Nerissa Golden is an award-winning writer, dynamic speaker, and visionary. She was named one of TechLink’s 2013 Caribbean Innovators for her work at a community level in technology advocacy, education, public awareness and innovative solution implementation.
As the CEO of goldenmedia, Nerissa
develops cutting edge communications strategies for her clients in the public,
private and non-profit sectors. She was an Associate Producer for The Skin by
HAMAFilms, managing its international publicity campaign, garnering it access
to film festivals around the Caribbean and North America. She also works with
emerging artists to develop a brand strategy which positions them to make an
impact across multiple platforms simultaneously.
This 2012 recipient of LIME
Montserrat’s Technology Award is an avid social media user and web developer
who believes more girls need to learn how to code. Her practical teaching style
has endeared her to develop and support programmes for youth and girls where
she shares tools to build a business using each individual’s natural talent and
today’s technology.
Nerissa is known as a well-rounded
professional communicator and strategic thinker with a strong sense of
awareness of the needs of her peers and people in general. Her warm and
inviting style allows her to connect with audiences to impart knowledge, spur
confidence and propel them to pursue their dreams.
Ever passionate about empowering women
to live on purpose, she is a popular speaker at conferences and workshops and
has also organized her own events including the Young Entrepreneurship
Symposiums across the region and Beyond the Screen – a filmmaking workshop. She
now hosts a live streamed chat called Teachable Thursdays.
A passionate entrepreneur, she has
developed both for profit and not for profit ventures including Victory
Christian Academy (VCA) on St. Maarten, now in its eighth year. This certified
Business Continuity Specialist was a founding member of Montserrat’s National
ICT Council. She has conducted entrepreneurship social media and other
technology-focused workshops for Montserrat’s Department of Youth Affairs, the
Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and the University of the West Indies Open
Campus. She has also been a consultant with CARICOM, the Barbados Youth
Business Trust and the Caribbean Telecommunications Union.
In November 2013, Nerissa released her
first children’s book, Island Days, a collection of illustrated poems about
growing up in the Caribbean. She has also written The Making of a
Caribbeanpreneur: Strategies for Overcoming Fear and Building Wealth as well as
Truly Caribbean Woman’s Guide to Good Love.
